"In this tape translations are being rendered. Representations of phenomena and the experience of them are attempted. Images are created. Nine sunsets were recorded with a Sony Mini DV digital camera on nine successive evenings. The words of anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss are heard as voice-over in French (the language of its writing) and in English (in translation) as he attempts to describe in precise detail his viewing a sunset; 'If I could find a language in which to perpetuate those appearances, at once so unstable and so resistant to description...'"
