Description du film :
« Away from Her est une adaptation de la nouvelle de Alice Munro The Bear Came Over the Mountain. Mariés depuis 50 ans, Grant et Fiona vivent une vie remplie de bonheur, de tendresse et d'humour malgré le fait que Fiona se réfugie de plus en plus dans le passé et qu'elle soit victime de pertes de mémoire de plus en plus fréquentes. Lorsque Grant doit se résoudre à placer Fiona, on lui interdit de voir son épouse durant le premier mois afin, dit-on, de lui permettre de s'adapter à son nouvel environnement. Mais lorsqu'il la visite de nouveau, celle-ci a complètement oublié son époux et s'est prise d'affection pour un autre résident, Aubrey. Le coeur brisé, Grant continue pourtant de visiter Fiona chaque jour, devenant le témoin des liens de plus en plus forts qui unissent Fiona et Aubrey. Lorsque l'épouse d'Aubrey, Marian, ramène son mari à la maison et Fiona tombe alors dans une profonde dépression. Grant décidera alors de se sacrifier pour assurer le bien-être de celle qu'il a si profondément aimée. »
