My Dads, My Moms and Me

Directed by Julia Ivanova
Canada, 2019 (documentary, 85 minutes, colour, English)

Film Description:
"Four gay men faced harsh social censure and homophobic comments when they decided to raise babies after same-sex marriage was legalized in Canada in 2005. Julia Ivanova captured the barriers the men overcame to create their families in her 2007 film Fatherhood Dreams. Randy and Drew adopted baby Jack, Scott connected with a surrogate to have twins Ella and Mac, and Steve fathered and brought up Zea and Jazz in a co-parenting relationship with lesbian mothers Wendy and Cory. Twelve years later, the kids are preteens, and Ivanova returns to see how these brave new families are faring. Joyful excerpts from the first film are woven into new interviews with the kids and parents to provide a rare view into the challenges facing queer parents today—and a compelling testament to the bonds of love and family."
