Raising the Gilhast Pole -- Film Description:
"This tape shows the raising of a totem pole among the Gitksan. We follow its carving in a local crafts center ('Ksan, which doubles as a recreation of a traditional village for tourists), to its raising in the village of Kispiox. The second half shows the potlatch given afterwards at which money is collected to pay those who helped to make and raise the pole and those who witnessed the event."
