La passion d'Augustine -- Film Description:
"Quebec, 1968. As protestors rip up the cobblestones in Paris, the government of Quebec enshrines the separation of church and state once and for all and introduces secular public education, much to the consternation of the Catholic Church, until then the all-powerful authority over the education of the province's children. Amidst the turmoil, Mother Augustine struggles fiercely to save her convent, near the Richelieu River, where she instills in little girls, particularly her niece, her passion for music and the piano. Once again exploring the worlds of heroines fighting for their freedom despite stifling constraints, Léa Pool (Anne Trister, Emporte-moi) employs sublime music to underscore the battles waged by Augustine, played by a mysterious, elusive and incredibly affecting Céline Bonnier."
