Femmes et religieuses... ouvrières de Dieu -- Film Description:
"These benchmark historical documentaries [Women of Faith...] for the first time paint a portrait of those thousands of women who answered God's call. From the foundation of New France until the present, the epic history of the nuns constitutes a legacy of inestimable historic value. Lucie Lachapelle directs a caustic and tender look at the turbulent journey of these women, at the same time wives and workers of God. The second episode, Labouring for God, reports on the development of the nuns' work in Quebec society and of their mission. The social upheavals caused by the Quiet Revolution (in the sixties) mark the decline of their activities, which are leading to a redefinition of their mission. Today they are at the point where the State is withdrawing and they are considering new approaches. Inspired by their community utopia, the nuns continue to create mutual co-operation networks here and in the countries of the Third World, not without questioning whether such a system is fully justified."
