La passion selon Gabriel -- Film Description:
"Renowned filmmaker Sylvie Groulx brings all her finely honed documentary instincts to bear in this film about Quebec actor Gabriel Gascon. Structured in the form of a musical fugue, the documentary introduces us to the man, the actor, the old friend known as Gaby to those close to him. We get to know Gascon, not only through his own soft-spoken words—his unique voice and its song-like quality makes us feel as though he is taking us into his close confidence—but also through the contributions of those closest to him, including actress Janine Sutto, playwright and director Denis Marleau, and actor/director/writer Coline Serreau. For decades, Gascon has been one of the shining lights of Quebec theatre—a genuinely authentic and talented presence, and one of the first to take the stage at Montreal's renowned Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, in 1951, in a production of Molière's L'Avare (The Miser). The film includes old family photos, archival footage and scenes in which Gaby has the opportunity to play himself. The result is a lively portrait that shows just how much Quebec's theatre scene owes to the passion of Gabriel."
