Ressac -- Film Description:
"Three women: Gemma, the wife; Chloé, the daughter; and Dorine, the mother-in-law. Three generations, three lives profoundly changed when the closing of the paper mill where Édouard worked closes and he must leave town to find work. Life goes on for the three women until the day they learn that Édouard has died, confronting them with harsh reality. Following up the excellent documentary Adagio pour un gars de bicycle, Pascale Ferland draws inspiration from real stories she collected in the Gaspé in 2008 after the announcement of the Gaspésia plant closing. In this first fictional feature, her meticulous direction leaves plenty of room for the idea's sensitivity and intelligence to shine. Ressac owes much of its poignancy to the strong, subtle performances of Nico Lagarde, Clémence Dufresne-Deslières and Muriel Dutil."
