"Élie is a young woman recovering from an illness. She arrives on an island in the North Atlantic just as the ice is melting and tries to fit in with the island community. She is both repulsed and attracted by the men who hunt seals in this remote place, where life and death are subject to nature's harsh whims. The young woman's mysterious presence sparks both curiosity and wariness. Maria, the local matriarch and den mother, tries to discover Élie's secret motives."
