« I saw The Far Shore on a crisp October morning in a quiet screening room in Toronto. What I saw was the cutting copy, the actual film [Joyce] Wieland and editors Judy Steed and Bryan French use every day as they edit and mold it into its final shape. The print was scratchy and full of optical marks. The sound was bad in places and there was no music. But wow!! It really is something. It's a visual film, a treat to look at. The story is epic in scale, with symbols that have immediate impact and so keep it moving convincingly.
