Madame La Bolduc -- Film Description:
"Madame La Bolduc was the first major star of Quebec song. A singular figure in our cultural heritage, she left behind a repertory of songs of exceptional worth. Amid an economic crisis, she invents a style of lyrics and music that expressed the woes and frustrations, but also the cheery nature of an entire people. Her life itself was a model of courage and talent. Throughout the film, the music performed by Alain Lamontagne expresses the soul of this singer. Fictional depictions bring to life her debut, the pivotal moments of her life and the success of her tours in Abitibi, Ontario and New England, where, along with her collaborators and friends Jean Grimaldi, Manda Parent, Olivier Guimond and Rose Ouellette, to name but a few, she brought hope and joie de vivre to her people."
