Description du film [en anglais] :
« The lives of three women, Ruth Horricks-Sujir, Rachna Joshi, and Leila Sujir, each from different generations and cultural backgrounds, are woven together in an electronic tapestry using video footage of real and surreal landscapes. Sujir was born in India and raised in Quebec. The narrative conveyed through performances and texts written by Ruth Horricks-Sujir, Rachna Joshi, and Leila Sujir focuses on notions of homesickness and cultural displacement. Footage is juxtaposed with the images of a red sari that creates a river of memories, where the women cleanse themselves with repetitive ritualized gestures. The footage shot in India is reprocessed, making a river of images and becomes a place of the memory and imagination encircled by the fabric of the narrative and the video itself. This videotape works with tapestry as a device to connect the three journeys and as a device to construct the image. Showing the viewer an electronic tapestry; literally using a sari to make a river of memories and using the electronic fabric of video itself to frame moving shots of Bombay. »
