Canada, 2007 (art vidéo, 12 minutes, couleurs)

Description du film [en anglais] :
« Originally (pun intended) created for the window of Grace Exhibition Space in Brooklyn, NY, and screened every night from dusk until morning. The work is a projected video diptych of the same imagery, looped in two slightly different lengths (one with short credits, one without) so that the projections are never in the same relationship to one another. The footage centers around 'Baby Buffalo', a (young) Plains Cree men's traditional dancer, and is combined with other 'Plains Indian' imagery. This includes peoples' moccasins as they dance, buffalo, painted horses, and Native youth and community in 'urban' street wear as they do 'laps' (walk around) the powwow arbor. The intention of this piece is to create/situate/portray/remind of a First Nations presence in a highly urban environment. In terms of mainstream conceptions, the imagery portrays Cree world in both 'stereotypical' and lesser known but in actuality nowadays more common, ways and situations. »
