Film Description: "A young Canadian, Abbey, falls in love with Dermot, a professor in his fifties, who retreated to the rugged expanse of Western Ireland some years before. When Abbey discovers that she is pregnant, Dermot is unwilling to consider the idea of fatherhood and, uncertain about her own feelings, she decides to leave. Initially relieved, Dermot reclaims his tiny seaside cottage, once again master of his own domain, albeit a small one. Told with compassion, humour, and deep affection for its characters, Stay is an exploration of how our past defines our present, and how our need to engage with others defines our future. Despite their struggles and failures, both Abbey and Dermot find redemption, hope, and ultimately each other." -- Telefilm Canada (source) |
