Film Description:
"Madeleine, a young French-Canadian girl, goes to study English literature in London. She meets a young actor, Peter, who has just come out of school and is out of work. They will have time to live together and discover the city of London, till Madeleine reveals to Peter that she is pregnant (or thinks she is pregnant). She realises then how much she is attached to her French speaking country, and how different are their backgrounds. Two visions of the world: man and woman—French and English."

"Pendant toute la première année [au Royal College of Art à Londres], j'ai fait du montage, du son et un peu de caméra. À la fin de l'année, j'étais très insatisfaite de ma vie à Londres. Et j'étais déçue de constater que nous ne parlions pas beaucoup de films, de cinéma. [...] Alors j'ai décidé de faire un film et de le réaliser moi-même. Un peu par désespoir. J'ai donc fait Compromise qui a participé à un concours dans tous les pays du Commonwealth. Et le film a décroché le premier prix. C'est cela qui m'a confirmée dans mon désir de faire de la réalisation car il y avait deux réalisateurs que j'estimais beaucoup sur le jury."

"Mireille Dansereau, of Montreal, was awarded the Grand Prize among 125 candidates at the London Festival of Student Films (London Student Film Festival), organised under the auspices of the London Sunday Telegraph. Her film, entitled Compromise, [...] was selected unanimously by the Jury as the best of all those viewed, both professional and amateur. The prize was $650.00 and the film will be presented at a presentation of the winning films to be staged shortly at the London National Film Theatre."
