Film Description: "In her youth, filmmaker Hélène Bélanger-Martin suffered from severe eating disorders. She has since recovered from her illness and made a remarkable first documentary entitled La peau et les os, après... The film is a probing reflection on a pernicious feeling of desperation affecting young people now more than ever—mostly girls, but boys as well—a 'soul-eating cancer' that has one of the highest fatality rates of any mental illness. This captivating film stars Annie, Isabelle, Marlène, Hélène, and 17 year-old Charlotte, who share their experiences to rekindle hope in the hearts of young anorexic-bulimics today. A riveting, frank documentary." -- Office national du film du Canada (source) |
