Keeping the Home Fires Burning --
Film Description:
"This tape explores the experiences of British Columbia women who
worked during WW2. Non-traditional work in the aircraft, ship-building and
the forest industries as well as service sector jobs are highlighted through
original footage, dramatizations and oral history. The tape deploys
personal testimony and humor to describe women's sometimes rocky
integration into the labour force, social attitudes towards women and work,
women's changing consciousness and experiences with trade unionism."
