Most directors, producers, financiers and distributors apparently don't see the value in these stories. That's a problem [Aisling] Chin-Yee runs into constantly, because she defiantly only makes movies about women on the margins. 'When you have an older white man reading a story about a young girl trying to make it in the world, he often looks for a male character who's going to save the day, or he suggests ways to make the girl more likeable,' Chin-Yee says about feedback she's received. 'They're so used to finding those story elements to help them relate.'"
